Position Overview
Our client are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Operations Manager to lead and manage our day-to-day cyber security operations. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of talented security engineers and managing the organisation's extensive suite of security tools and systems.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate essential security activities such as auditing, reporting, penetration testing, and simulation exercises. This role requires deep technical expertise across a range of security domains - including EDR, vulnerability management, firewalls, cloud security, and risk control frameworks - as well as the ability to balance operational priorities with strategic objectives.
You will play a key role in supporting the CIO and CTO in delivering the organisation's cyber security strategy, roadmap, and policies.
Key Responsibilities
The Cyber Security Operations Manager will:
- Lead and manage the operational and technical delivery of the organisation's cyber security programs.
- Partner with IT teams to ensure all technologies are implemented and maintained in alignment with security policies and guidelines.
- Coordinate security awareness, communication, and training across the business.
- Collaborate with vendors, legal, and procurement teams to establish contracts and service-level agreements.
- Manage production incidents, participate in problem and change management forums, and ensure effective resolution.
- Actively contribute to the organisation's information security governance processes.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and communicate security program effectiveness.
- Oversee cyber security architecture, ensuring security considerations are embedded in the design, implementation, and configuration of systems.
- Recommend and coordinate the implementation of technical controls to support defined security policies.
- Research, evaluate, and implement new security technologies, providing guidance on integration and risk impacts.
- Work closely with enterprise architecture, IT management, and the Department of Health (DoH) Cyber Team to align technical and security requirements.
- Lead and coordinate cyber working groups, reporting, and compliance activities.
- Manage vendor performance to ensure contractual obligations and SLAs are met.
- Direct operational components of incident management including detection, response, and reporting.
- Maintain cyber security playbooks, knowledge bases, and documentation of standards, trends, and best practices.
- Manage threat and vulnerability management functions, including risk analysis and treatment planning.
- Provide cyber expertise for projects, governance forums, and disaster recovery planning.
- Oversee periodic reviews of audit trails, logs, and monitoring data for compliance and risk detection.
- Design, coordinate, and oversee security testing programs, ensuring remediation of identified risks.
- Support executive and board-level reporting on cyber security performance, risks, and governance.
- Perform after-hours duties as required.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in cyber security operations management, including leading technical teams.
- Strong technical knowledge across EDR, vulnerability management, firewalls, cloud security, and risk frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and improve operational security processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across business and IT functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Experience with governance, risk, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, Essential Eight).
- Strong vendor management and service delivery oversight skills.
