This is an Aboriginal Identified Role - we need someone to bring their cultural capability and lived experience as an Aboriginal person to this role. We do allow some flexibility with how the regular 24 hours are spread across the week, including flexible start and finish times to suit you and your family's needs. However, on occasion the role does support immunisation clinics with set hours.
Where you'll be working
Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community.
PaCH's services are provided at the District's hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres and specialist clinics. We work with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.

The Role

The highest priority is to support Aboriginal families and their health providers to vaccinate bubs and children on time. To improve vaccination uptake the Aboriginal Immunisation Health Worker needs to build good relationships with community and other Aboriginal health workers and Aboriginal community-controlled organisation.

Selection Criteria:
- This is a position identified for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people on the basis of a genuine occupational qualification under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality as part of the recruitment process.
- Being Female is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW).
- Work experience or qualifications in health or community services or related areas (or a willingness to undertake training supported by the organisation).
- Knowledge of challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in accessing health care and a willingness to engage with communities living in South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
- Computer skills, including using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Powerpoint and Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to organise tasks, assign priorities and meet deadlines as well as demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work with community and other organisations
- Willingness to travel across the District.
