Purpose of this position
The key purpose of the Scheduler position is to conduct the rostering function of the individual support
services. This includes allocating suitable staff to client support shifts, liaising with internal and external
stakeholders, applying problem solving skills to work through rostering challenges, providing support and
advice to Support Workers regarding service provision queries, and processing administrative tasks as
required.
The aim of successful rostering is to ensure that the needs and preferences of the clients are met, that
staff utilisation is maximised and that all relevant communication is provided in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:
Schedule person-centred supports with support workers matched to individuals
Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with families, support workers and
relevant external vendorsRecognise, value and nurture the talents of support workers and the people they support,
ensuring person-centred relationship- based supportManage annual leave and personal leave of support workers, ensuring that information is
accurate and up to date and approve or decline leave requestsTake action and follow correct procedures when feedback and complaints are received

Understanding the people we support:
1. Appreciate and understand the issues experienced by people with disability and their families
- Minimise the impact of scheduling and support worker changes
Service Delivery:
1. Ensure timely response to scheduling support workers for new and existing people that we
support
Ensure that appropriate breaks and travel time are accurately incorporated into rosters
Ensure that the provision of supports is consistent with the policies and procedures of Directions
and its funding bodyEnsure efficient rostering and coordination of support workers to maximise their availability to
individuals and families

Participate in the on-call roster
Schedule staff inductions and training
Use and populate CRM database in accordance with the requirements of Directions and funding
bodiesProvide cover for support worker shifts as required if unable to fit suitable cover
Complete and process daily approvals

1. Create, negotiate and build effective relationships and rapport with individuals, families and
support workers
- Develop and maintain professional and functional relationships with peers and colleagues within
Directions

Any procurement of goods and services include consideration of the environmental footprint

Report environmental issues to appropriate people

1. Contribute to continuous quality improvement by constantly seeking out opportunities to improve
work practices and procedures
- Assist the quality evaluation process by identifying, incorporating best practice and providing
regular reports on quality activities undertaken

1. Certificate III in Disability (Desirable)
Work Experience, Skills & Competencies
Demonstrated relevant experience in the following areas:
Previous experience in a scheduling role, demonstrating highly effective people skills and
delivery of outcomes for people with disability and their families, or within aged careExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage people from
all backgroundsGood problem-solving skills with the ability to find solutions autonomously
Possess a diligent, 'can-do' attitude and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to take responsibility, with the capability to work on your own initiative and
within a teamProven skills to work well under pressure and at a fast pace
Willingness to work flexibly as required and manage competing priorities
High level of competency with Word and Excel, knowledge of SMS and/or Visicase would be an
advantage
