Crusher Operator

POSITION PURPOSE

The Crusher Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of crushing and screening equipment on OreTech Projects. The role ensures production targets are met while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

• Operate and monitor crushing and screening equipment

• Conduct plant start-up, shutdown, and change-over procedures as per site requirements.

• Maintain continuous feed and flow of materials to achieve production targets.

• Perform ore sampling and ensure samples are collected, labelled, and delivered in line with site protocols.

• Operate mobile equipment (e.g., skid steers, telehandlers) as deemed competent and authorised.

• Perform routine inspections of plant operations to identify performance issues.

• Proven experience of Time management skills & reporting during operations

• Completion of additional tasks delegated by manager in a timely manner

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all WHS policies, procedures, JHAs, SWMS, and permit-to-work requirements.

• Actively participate in daily SafeStart, Production meetings and toolbox talks.

• Report hazards, near misses, and incidents in a timely manner.

• Comply with environmental controls, including dust suppression, noise limits, and spill prevention.

• Be alert, aware of other machinery, and follow instructions given by Supervision.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

• Responsible for greasing of the plant as per greasing schedules and direction of Plant Supervisor and/or Plant Fitter

• Carry out basic preventative maintenance and minor adjustments to plant equipment.

• Promptly identify, report, and escalate equipment faults or breakdowns.

• Assist trades persons in their duties by providing tooling, parts and have the right tickets to be a EWP spotter, hot workers spotter, working at heights spotter etc

• Ongoing clean up the plant of all spillage and other debris with the use of shovels, jack hammers, picks, water hosing, other mechanical aids such as skidsteers, small excavators

• Ensure site equipment and stores are in good working order and general housekeeping of the site is exceptional.

Consultation & Reporting

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance teams, and fellow operators.

• Record production data, checklists, and shift reports accurately.

• Provide feedback on operational issues and potential improvements.

• Cooperate with site leadership to ensure crushing activities align with overall production plans.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

• Operational experience with crushers, conveyors and screens

• Current C Class Drivers Licence

• Working at Heights Certificate

• Confined Space Entry Certificate

• OH&S Construction Card – White Card

• Gas Test Atmospheres Certificate

• First Aid and CPR Certificate

• RIIHAN309F – Telehandler

• RIIMPO318F – Skid Steer

• Australian Working Rights

• Demonstrated safe use of general hands tools.

• Demonstrated skills in identifying, repairing, replacing hard and soft skirting liners on conveyor systems, apron feeders.

• Skilled in identifying, replacing and aligning all roller types on conveyor systems.

• Skilled in identifying, replacing and aligning conveyor belt cleaning systems such as ploughs, scrapers and brushes

• Understanding Crusher plant inspections and monitoring to optimize plant performance.

• Be able to identify plant issues such as conveyor belt alignment & tracking, worn hard and soft liners on chutes and other material transfer points, conveyor belt condition, screen media condition, unusual motor, gearbox, pulley noises.

• Demonstrated skills in identifying and changing out all types of screen media of all Screener types.

• Ability to actively diagnose bottlenecks in the crushing circuit

Desirable:

• Knowledge on changing out conveyor belts to assist belt splicers and other trades.

• High Risk License – EWP

• Current HR Driver's Licence
