About the Role:

As the Calibration and Service Technician you will work with the world's leading reliability and precision maintenance instruments. Your role will be to work with customers and product specialists to inspect, calibrate and maintain the world's leading precision maintenance instruments (e.g. Laser machine alignment systems). Your disciplined approach, practical technical skills and troubleshooting ability will allow you to complete accurate system calibrations and quality repairs as per OEM recommendations. Your excellent communications skills and customer service instincts will be the foundation for growing our service centre revenue.

You will report directly to the Newcastle Warehouse and Operations Manager and will be supported by a team of Product Specialists.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with instrument OEMS, our product experts and customers.
  • Provide excellent customer service related to repair and calibration work.
  • Clean and inspect precision maintenance instruments for damage or faults.
  • Complete instrument calibrations according to OEM guidelines and issue calibration certificates.
  • Complete system troubleshooting to identify the root cause of system faults and correct these with repairs according to OEM standards.
  • Collaborate with the OEM on complex troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration and repair works (photographs, inspection and repair reports and calibration records).
  • Contribute to the calibration service centre planning and strategy.
  • Drive growth in revenue for the repair and calibration centre and aftersales accessories business through disciplined follow-up and service excellence.

Requirements

  • Must be self-driven, capable of operating autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with overseas OEM.
  • A disciplined and systematic approach to work management.
  • Experience with fine mechanical and electronic repairs.
  • Excellent fine soldering skills and experience (IPC certificate 7711/7721 rework, modification and repair of electronic assemblies' qualification or similar would be highly regarded).
  • Proficiency in using IT systems for work management
  • Intermediate Microsoft office experience (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word).
  • Proven ability to take initiative, coupled with robust problem-solving skills.
  • Instrumentation technician train qualification would be highly beneficial.
  • Residency in NSW with a readiness for occasional overseas travel (1 week every year) for training.
