ABOUT THE ROLE –
This role is approximately 3-4hours per week
We are seeking Junior Academy Assistant Coaches to join our Junior Academy Program
As a Junior Academy Coach you will be responsible for coaching and facilitating sessions within our Junior Academy (ages 12–15). You'll deliver one weekly training session plus game-day coaching across three regions between February and the end of August.
Reporting to the Academy Lead and the Pathway Skills & Acquisition Coach, your role focuses on implementing the fundamental skills curriculum provided by the Pathway coach. You'll bring energy and structure to each session, and provide a positive and inclusive environment, focusing on building fundamental skills, confidence, and sportsmanship in both boys and girls.
These roles contribute significantly to the successful operation of our Tasmania Talent Pathway Programs. Junior Academy Assistant Coaches are primarily responsible for supporting the Regional Academy Talent Leads (Boys & Girls) and the Talent Pathways Skills Acquisition Coach in the development of our junior academy players. The Tasmania Junior Academy Program provides a unique football landscape in that it has, as a primary goal, the focus of the development of individual players in the program.
Junior Academy Coach roles are employed across the three regions (North, North West and South) which include boys and girls years of age. Please indicate your region preference and which program (boys/girls) you would prefer when applying.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities
- Provide support to the relevant coach in the planning of training and match days.
- Actively drive and contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment for the players and an overall positive and respectful culture within the region.
- Work with individual players to improve their fundamental skills and to provide guidance and confidence in their football careers.
- Act as a line coach and oversee the responsibilities of educating the players under your charge.

- A valid Working With Vulnerable People card is required

- AFL Silver Coach Accreditation (previously Level 2) or working towards an AFL Coaching accreditation
