Pumphouse Point is an adults-only retreat nestled on Lake St Clair, just 2.5 hours from Hobart. This hidden gem features 19 rooms in two converted heritage buildings, offering an intimate escape in World Heritage wilderness. Only 10 minutes away, the Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel boasts soaring ceilings, exposed beams, and a grand double-sided fireplace at the heart of its bar and restaurant—perfect for relaxing by the fire, enjoying a meal, and sipping a drink in a classic alpine pub. 

Job Description

What you'll do: 

Reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager and working closely with the General Manager, you'll look after the day-to-day operations of the grounds and maintenance at Pumphouse Point and Derwent Bridge Hotel. You'll be self-motivated and able to work autonomously. This is a very hands-on role, working in a small team with one Handyperson, you'll uphold high standards in property and facility upkeep, ensuring everything runs smoothly and looks its best. This is a live-in role, with staff accommodation offered free of charge. Personal transport is a must for living remote 

A level of fitness is required to meet the physical demands of this role, as are a resilient and can-do attitude. We are seeking an experienced full-time Maintenance Supervisor to commit and make a long-term impact. On a daily basis you'll: 

  • Lead your team and participate in daily grounds and maintenance tasks. 
  • Incidental maintenance repairs in rooms, grounds, amenities and other facilities. 
  • Assist with building projects, major repairs, renovations, mechanical repairs - painting, basic plumbing or replacing hardware. 

What you'll bring:   

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in hospitality maintenance role or a relevant field 
  • Well developed interpersonal and people management skills, including ability to interact with and influence people at all levels  
  • Strong leadership and management skills combined with a proven ability to lead, mentor and develop others  
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in repairing and maintaining buildings, plant and equipment 
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy  
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently 
  • Tertiary or vocational qualification in relevant field, or progress towards (desirable) 
  • Working at heights licence (desirable) 
  • Working in confined spaces licence (desirable)
