About the Role

Our team is growing, and we are seeking 2 x Senior Base Engineers (Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers) to join us at our Hobart / Cambridge Airport Facility supporting the StarFlight Australia Aeromedical, SAR and Air Law Enforcement operations for the people and State of Tasmania.

Working a 7/7 roster, you will be responsible leading the maintenance team for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities working initially on B412 before transitioning to a new fleet of H145-D3 Helicopters.  The Senior Base Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Resource and Team Management: Manage Rosters, manpower and resources to ensure effective operational outcomes are delivered under a performance-based contract
  • Leadership Excellence: Provide mentoring, leadership, performance management as the front-line operational leader for the AMO team
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures are adhered to by the AMO team
  • Facilities: Ensure facilities are compliant to AMO MOE and Regulatory standards
  • Safety and Quality: Promote and support reporting culture for all Safety, Quality related matters including facilitating and supporting Risk Assessments, ORR investigations
  • Aircraft Inspections:scheduled and unscheduled inspections of aircraft systems, structures, and components to ensure airworthiness and compliance with regulations.
  • Aircraft Maintenance and Repair:Executing maintenance tasks, repairs, and replacements of aircraft parts and systems.
  • Aircraft Documentation:Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspection reports, repair logs, and compliance documentation, to ensure regulatory compliance and traceability.
  • Aircraft Troubleshooting:Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaboration:Working closely with other departments to ensure the maintenance personnel, pilots, and regulatory authorities to coordinate maintenance activities and address safety concerns.

About YouYour approach to safety, attention to detail and adherence to regulatory standards and company procedures are essential in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our aircraft documentation.  You will also possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • CASA Part 66 B1.3 or B2 Licence
  • B412 Type Rating - Mandatory
  • H145-D3 Type Rating (desirable)
  • Full-time working rights in Australia - Mandatory
  • Prior Experience as an SBE or other leadership/supervisory role (Desirable)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, components, and their maintenance requirements.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements and standards, particularly regarding airworthiness and maintenance control.
  • Experience and or knowledge of Risk Assessment Process, WHS, Environmental policies – (desirable)
  • Experience or Knowledge of Part 42 CAMO regulatory framework –  (Desirable)
  • An understanding of company policies and procedures (MOE and SMS)
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team
  • Be practical and resourceful with demonstrated organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Be resourceful with a can-do attitude
