Redfern, New South Wales, Australia Laundy Hotels Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Join Our Team as General Manager – Woolpack Hotel

We're looking for an experienced General Manager / Licensee to lead one of Redfern's most iconic venues under the experienced ownership of Laundy Hotels.

The Woolpack Hotel in Redfern is a beloved local spot, serving up delicious food alongside a carefully curated selection of beers, wines, and spirits. This vibrant pub and bistro brings live music and plenty of character to the neighbourhood. Inspired by the charm and energy of classic pubs, The Woolpack is a true community-focused venue where friends and neighbours come together.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a thriving, high-volume operation, where your vision and leadership will directly influence the success and reputation of the venue. You'll have the chance to drive innovation, pursuit of excellence, and create a culture where both guests and team members thrive and grow.

Your Role, Your Journey

  • As a key leader in a vibrant, 7-day-a-week venue, you'll thrive in an environment where evening and weekend shifts are part of the role.
  • Take full responsibility for overall venue management.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgets, and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with liquor, gaming, and licensing regulations.
  • Drive people management, performance, and retention.
  • Build strong connections through community engagement and local area marketing.
  • Collaborate with marketing to deliver revenue growth initiatives.
  • Create an outstanding entertainment and customer experience – from lighting to atmosphere.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in both operations and service.

What You'll Bring to the Role:

- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to inspire and manage teams.

- Demonstrated success in running high-volume, multi-faceted venues.

- 2–3 years' experience in a similar size and style of operation.

- A solid understanding and appreciation of gaming operations. (preferred)

- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

- In-depth knowledge of current liquor legislation and compliance.

- A hands-on leader who fosters strong, lasting relationships with staff, customers, and the community.

We vibe best with people who are:

Accountable – Own it. Fix it. Nail it.

Curious – Ask "why" and "what if" often.

Collaborative – Because legends don't work alone.

Driven – You hustle hard without losing your cool.

The Laundy Story:

Four generations, countless beers poured, and a legacy built on good old-fashioned hospitality, that's the Laundy way.

We kicked things off in 1945 with the Sackville Hotel in Rozelle and never looked back. Through grit, heart, and a knack for turning pubs into community icons, we've grown into one of NSW's most recognisable hospitality families.

Today we have a diverse portfolio of 40+ venues that stretch from your trusty local, to boutique hotels and buzzy beachfront playgrounds. The heart of Laundy beats the same everywhere:  Think Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, the Woolwich Pier, the Marsden Brewhouse, and beyond, where people gather, celebrate, commiserate, and everything in between. From schooners at the local to spritzes by the sea, we've built a reputation for blending tradition with just the right dash of sass

How to Apply:

And yes — we want a cover letter. Not a cookie cutter one, but something that shows us who you are. Get creative, have some fun with it, and let us see the person behind the resume (trust us, we'll actually read it).

We're all about people:

At the Laundy Hotels, we know great hospitality starts with diverse voices and experiences. We're proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, and we actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, cultures, and abilities, including First Nations peoples, people with disability, and those from the LGBTQIA+ community.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, our HR team would be happy to have a confidential chat to make sure you're comfortable and supported every step of the way. You can connect with the team at
