About Us:

Bidgerdii Community Health Services is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and wider Central Queensland region for more than 30 years and our vision is for Healthy and Strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, children, families and communities – self – determining, culturally strong, and thriving in their own way. The name 'Bidgerdii' means 'healing plant' – the bark of the plant was used for tobacco, and the leaves for healing sores and rashes.

Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary healthcare and wellbeing services, collaborates with partner agencies for integrated continuity of care and advocates for health policy and health system reform. Our services include general practice bulk-billing clinics, social and emotional wellbeing and generalist counselling services, chronic disease management, preventative health screening, children and family health and early childhood education services.

About the Role:

We are seeking an additionalTeam Member to join our Marketing Team

The purpose of the Health Promotion Officer is to create awareness and deliver education to community members to encourage positive behaviour change by planning, developing and delivering health promotion activities.

A background or exposure to Marketing or Promotions would be advantageous but is not necessary as full training will be provided.

Duties Include, but not limited to:

  • Create communication campaigns and promotion materials
  • Build partnerships with mainstream services and organisations
  • Under the guidance of the Marketing & Communication Coordinator, use social media tools for collaboration & engagement.
  • General Administration and Reporting

About You:

You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and also have the following:

  • Possesses a minimum Senior Secondary Certificate year 10 or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a high level of written communication skills and literacy.
  • Computer literate as some paperwork for ordering resources may be required.
  • Be willing to participate in future marketing training to grow your career with Bidgerdii and has an interest in working in the Marketing, Community Promotion, Events, Digital Media.
  • An awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues, particularly in the health area which are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Practical Requirements:
  • Valid Blue Card (Working with children check)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
  • Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, COVID19 and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
