The North Queensland Region is seeking applications for a Senior Health and Safety Consultant to join the team. In this key role, you will drive the improvement of health, safety, and wellbeing outcomes across schools and departmental workplaces. This is an excellent opportunity to lead proactive safety

Your Responsibilities
As the Senior Health and Safety Consultant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide expert consultancy and timely advice on workplace health and safety matters, with a strong focus on managing and preventing OVA and psychosocial hazards.
- Support schools and workplaces to assess, prevent, mitigate and manage safety and psychosocial risks and hazards.
- Coordinate the delivery of training, workshops and resources to strengthen staff capability in responding to OVA and creating psychologically safe workplaces.
- Analyse data and trends relating to workplace injuries, incidents and hazards, including psychosocial risk factors, and lead evidence-based interventions.
- Investigate and support the resolution of serious incidents, ensuring compliance with legislative and departmental requirements.
- Partner with leaders and staff to foster a culture of respect, safety and wellbeing across all service areas.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and contemporary practices, particularly in relation to psychosocial risks, workplace wellbeing and occupational violence prevention.
- Ability to build strong relationships and engage with staff at all levels, including school leaders, to drive safe and inclusive workplace practices.
- Confidence in leading investigations, interpreting data, and applying evidence to develop targeted solutions.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and promoting a culture where staff feel safe, supported and valued.
