Little bit about the role 

Based at Inner Melbourne Community Hub, the Team Leader of Community Connections leads a multi-faceted outreach case management team who provide short to medium term support within the North West Melbourne, whilst carrying a caseload. They have a demonstrated experience that supports the range of needs and issues affecting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including mental health, alcohol and other drugs, disability, justice, and family violence, and an ability to support, guide and mentor staff as they support their clients.

The Team Leader leads a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality services in alignment with VincentCare's strategic goals. This role is responsible for operational oversight, performance management, continuous improvement, risk management, and service excellence within a designated service stream or program.

The Team Leader exercises a high level of autonomy and initiative and holds significant responsibility for decision-making, stakeholder management, and the professional development of staff. The position requires the application of advanced specialist knowledge and professional judgement in complex environments.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor-level qualification in Social Work, Community Services, or a related field, with significant relevant experience (minimum 5 years), or equivalent demonstrated experience where appropriate.
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and supervising staff.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Experience in operational management, including program delivery, workforce management, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance, risk management, and accreditation requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of complex client needs, including homelessness, family violence, mental health, disability and financial hardship.
  • Proven ability to manage conflict, critical incidents and challenging behaviours.
  • Commitment to social justice, human rights and client-centred practice.
  • High-level communication, organisational, and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, sound judgement and reflective practice.
  • Proficiency in case management systems and reporting tools.
  • Alignment with VincentCare values and ability to maintain professional relationships.
