A leading financial institution is seeking a detail-oriented and highly collaborative Project Finance Associate to join their Sydney-based team. As a Project Finance Associate, you will play a key role in supporting the full lifecycle of infrastructure and energy financing transactions. Your responsibilities will span from origination support and analysis through to structuring, execution, and monitoring. You'll prepare detailed financial models, conduct credit analysis, draft submissions, and assist in due diligence and syndication activities. You will also contribute to sector research and maintain regular client interaction through meetings, reporting, and site visits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting transaction processes including project appraisal, negotiations, due diligence, and legal documentation.
- Undertaking financial analysis including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow projections.
- Preparing detailed credit submissions for new proposals, variations, and annual reviews.
- Building and reviewing financial models, conducting sensitivity analysis, and assessing business cases.
- Supporting syndication processes and ongoing monitoring of existing assets.
- Conducting industry research and staying across trends to provide insights on current and future opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related field (postgraduate qualifications advantageous).
- 4-6 years' experience in project finance, ideally in the infrastructure or energy sectors open to industrial, leveraged finance and complex corporate experience.
- Strong financial modelling and credit analysis skills.
- Familiarity with sector frameworks such as PPAs, concession agreements, EPC/O&M contracts.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Experience in due diligence, documentation review, and transaction monitoring.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
