The Position

A healthier future. It's what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That's what makes us Roche. Join us in making this happen with:

  • Effective customer engagement across NSW & QLD
  • Expertise in the field of Ophthalmology
  • Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience within the healthcare setting

This Medical Affairs (field based) position is internally referred to as the Medical Patient Journey Partner (M-PJP). This is a local customer facing role unlocking value along the patient journey - from mostly offering world-class medicines towards integrated solutions, much more partnering, innovating and leading generative disruption.

The M-PJP is a medical affairs role with a reporting line culminating with the Country Medical Director; this role has a Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) focus and operates at all times with non-promotional intent.

The M-PJP will be directly accountable to deliver better outcomes for patients, the ecosystem and the organisation, faster (the "triple win").

What you will be working on:

The M-PJP is an empowered leader and the local medical affairs face of Roche who has decision making authority to request resources of Roche. In this role, you will be involved in:

  • Scientific Leadership:Serve as a scientific expert for the company's Ophthalmology pipeline and marketed products, providing deep expertise to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical investigators, and academic researchers within the Ophthalmology field.
  • Education & Training:Provide scientific education and training to healthcare professionals, internal teams, and partners, ensuring accurate, up-to-date information about our products.
  • Evidence Generation and Clinical Support:Support clinical trial development by providing scientific insights and collaborating with clinical teams on ongoing and upcoming clinical trials.
  • Data Communication: Effectively communicate complex scientific data, including clinical trial results, in a clear, concise manner to a wide range of audiences.
  • Field Intelligence: Gather and analyze scientific and clinical insights from the field, and provide feedback to shape product strategy, development, and commercialization efforts.
  • Compliance & Documentation:Ensure all interactions comply with industry regulations and ethical standards. Maintain accurate documentation of scientific activities.

Who you are:

As a driven medical affairs professional, you think from an enterprise level, beyond boundaries and borders, in order to bring best possible outcomes to both the local health environment, and more broadly, across Roche globally. You have:

  • University degree (life sciences) and/or Healthcare professional qualification with practical understanding of digital innovation methodologies. An advanced degree in Life Sciences and/or MBA is a plus
  • At least 5 years or equivalent of demonstrated experience in the medical affairs or related field (e.g. MSL) within in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with up to date knowledge of Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
  • Scientific and Therapy Area expertise in Ophthalmology in mapping patient journeys and related treatments in the assigned TA, enabling engagement at the specialist level
  • Robust strategic understanding and experience in tactical implementation of health solutions, including an understanding of clinical research
  • Learning agility, networking and Wisdom Exchange
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and empathy

With strong business acumen, you demonstrate expertise in commercialization, medical and customer experience. You are excellent in stakeholder engagement including partnering with therapeutic area experts (TAEs) and organisations.

This role is based in Sydney and requires travel in NSW and QLD . Valid driving licence and full eligibility to live and work in Australia is necessary as visa/relocation support is not available for this position.

We do not accept any unsolicited resumes or enquiries from recruitment agencies. Roche has a dedicated in-house Talent Acquisition team.
