About the Role

As an AO5 Home Assessor within the Disaster Resilience Program, you'll combine your analytical skills and stakeholder management expertise to assess the cost-effectiveness of projects, support grant management, and contribute to the improvement of home resilience across Queensland communities.

This role involves a mix of desktop and on-site assessments, reporting, and engagement with applicants, contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and analyse the cost effectiveness of projects, with a focus on quality through desktop and on-site assessments of homes to evaluate resilient outcomes.
  • Conduct Value for Money (VFM) assessments and provide insights for improvement.
  • Evaluate grant applications and resolve customer enquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Liaise with applicants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Provide first-level complaint resolution and escalate issues when required.
  • Identify and report on issues, risks, and exceptions to support continuous improvement.
  • Prepare accurate data and reporting to inform internal reviews and Ministerial requests.
  • Contribute to a high-performing team environment and support colleagues where needed.
  • Monitor grant finance and invoicing activities.
  • Support a safe working environment and uphold WHS practices.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records using information management systems.

About You

  • Experience working within the building industry, either in a trade-based role or design/engineering/Quantity Surveying/Estimating is highly desirable.
  • Experience in property assessments, estimating, or related fields with a focus on price, quantities, materials, and scope is highly desirable.
  • Sound analytical and assessment skills with the ability to conduct VFM reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret plans and resilient building strategies.
  • High level of knowledge of building materials and their application.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders at various levels.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Experience using the SmartyGrants platform is highly desirable
