Cybersecurity Consultant

Overview

FinXL IT Professional Services is a leading IT solutions organisation providing a broad range of services to assist large Australian enterprises and Government departments to deliver IT project.

We are seeking a highly experienced Cybersecurity Consultant to join the team for a major program of work. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of Australian government security frameworks, with a mandatory security clearance required.

Responsibilities

Australian Government Security Frameworks: Expertise in Australian Government security frameworks, including the PSPF, ISM, and Essential Eight.

GRC and Risk Management: Relevant experience in a GRC-focused role, including security documentation development, risk management, and control assessments.

  • Ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and control gap analyses on Fortinet systems and processes, identifying threats and vulnerabilities to document security risks and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Ability to liaise with and advise internal teams, project teams, and the agency on cyber governance, risk management, and compliance matters.

Technical & Operational Focus

  • Documentation Development: Proven ability to develop and deliver security documentation and work instructions from scratch, as existing materials are not available for reuse.
  • Fortinet Systems (Preferred): Experience with Fortinet systems to support incident response automation and related processes.
  • Cyber Resilience (Beneficial): Familiarity with:
  • Cyber security incident response and the ability to conduct an Incident Response exercise.
  • Vulnerability scanning/assessment (Tenable), developing Backup and Recovery, and developing BCP/DRP documentation.
  • SIEM integration, Fortinet Privileged Access Management (PAM) integration, Fortinet Wireless network assessment, and network operations.

Communication

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
