Haymarket, New South Wales, Australia Aurecon Full time
Overview Want to bring ideas to life?
You're in the right place. If you're looking for a fresh challenge, why choose Aurecon? It comes down to one, crucial question. What kind of world do you want to create for the next generation? Truth is, the decisions being made right now will determine the future of everything – from the local community to the entire planet. One of those decisions is: who do you decide to work for?
How will your ideas contribute to shaping what's next?
As a technology lawyer in Aurecon's legal and governance team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling innovation while safeguarding Aurecon's legal and compliance obligations across our digital and technology landscape. This role supports the delivery of complex projects with government and private sector clients, facilitates the adoption of emerging technologies, and ensures legal risks are effectively managed to support growth.
You'll bring your expertise in digital law, data and privacy governance, and technology contracting to help shape how Aurecon navigates the evolving legal and regulatory environment. Working closely with stakeholders across Legal, Risk, Digital, and Operations, your insights will help build robust governance frameworks and unlock opportunities for smarter, safer innovation.
Here are the key things you will do to 'bring ideas to life':
Advise on technology and digital projects, including procurement, licensing, SaaS, data use, collaboration, and consulting arrangements.
Provide legal and compliance support on issues relating to data, privacy, cyber security, AI, intellectual property, and emerging technologies.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with government and private sector clients, and partners and vendors.
Support development and implementation of governance frameworks, risk assessments, and policies and procedures.
Collaborate with client project teams and internal stakeholders across Digital, IT / IS, Risk, and Commercial functions.
What we are looking for 5–8 years PQE, with experience in technology, IP, privacy, data, and/or government contracting.
Background in a law firm and/or in-house environment, with exposure to technology-related legal matters.
Commercial and pragmatic approach, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Comfortable advising on emerging issues such as AI, digital innovation, and new technologies.
Senior Counsel candidates should demonstrate the ability to operate autonomously on complex matters.
Who is Aurecon? Aurecon's strength has always been our people. It's our people who build our shared purpose and bring ideas to life. It's our people who imagine and co-create with our clients a better future for people and the planet. Of course, you'll probably know lots of our award-winning projects. The new Allianz Stadium in Sydney? That was us. Tāmaki Regeneration in Auckland? That was us too. And the Tseung Kwan O Interchange in Hong Kong? You guessed it, us. So, when you join us, you'll be joining a community working together to tackle some of the world's most complex challenges.
Ready to bring ideas to life? Then please apply. Remember, it's you and how you bring ideas to life which are important. Your background, unique needs and individuality will be valued. Visit our website to learn more at now.
