We are currently seeking a full time Head of Health & Safety - APAC to be based in any of our Australian/New Zealand office. We are looking for a hands on, motivated and energetic individual who enjoys working collaboratively, with the ability to work autonomously on WHS tasks. The scope of this role extends across all APAC which includes Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
You will be a natural born leader with confidence in displaying working successfully across countries in Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand. You will have the ability to connect multiple stakeholders together with a unified approach to Health & Safety in order to deliver results in a high performing business operation.
Key Responsibilities
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Asia-Pacific Regional Manager this role will see you take a proactive approach in:

• Developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety strategies to enable business priorities and a safe workplace culture.

• Managing implementation and compliance of health and safety systems.

• Engaging with key stakeholders and internal groups to respond to demands and identify areas for continuous improvement.

• Building supportive and effective relationships with stakeholders throughout APAC.

• Active engagement and supporting service lines, technical discipline teams and other shared services by coaching, and supporting the business in all matter relating to H&S.

• Share learnings, provide advice and contribute to proactive solutions to improve H&S environment, culture, and compliance.

• Lead the development and ongoing review of our safety management system to ensure continual improvement.
Skills and Experience
You will have a great attitude to supporting and keeping people safe as well as previous experience with the following:

• Comprehensive understanding of the WHS legislation, relevant standards and codes of practice and a recognised tertiary qualification in H&S, as well as at least 15+ years demonstrated experience working in health and safety.

• Previous experience working in senior operations role associated with medium to large size consulting business with international working experience and knowledge across Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

• Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.

• Excellent skills in managing time, setting priorities and attention to detail.

• Experience in hazard identification and the implementation of effective controls in the workplace, ideally in high-risk environments. (e.g. hazardous materials, working in and around water, ground disturbance.)

• Experience in the development of safety management systems including H&S procedures, guidelines, and other risk management tools.

• A strategic thinker who can balance policy development with hands-on implementation.
Some travel to SLR offices and sites will be required.
