The Site Reliability Team:
Help Shopify run planet-scale systems by enabling engineering teams to create resilient systems
Build and improve tools to keep our platform resilient and performant
Help define what Resiliency and Site Reliability Engineering means for Shopify
Impact production systems underpinning commerce for millions of merchants
Go on-call and respond to automated alerts and execute playbooks
Identify gaps in processes and build or improve tools to support incident management
Develop production tooling and services to improve platform resilience
Reduce noise in signals to better understand and debug the platform
Ensure we never fail for the same reason twice
Responsibilities
Maintain and improve production systems for reliability and performance
Respond to on-call alerts, diagnose incidents, and implement durable fixes
Develop tooling and services to support incident management and post-incident reviews
Collaborate with other engineering teams to build resilient architectures
Posture and capacity planning to manage scale and growth
Qualifications
Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar role
Strong knowledge of distributed systems, monitoring, and incident response
Ability to design and implement resilient, scalable solutions
Familiarity with production tooling and automation
Additional Info
Specifically in APAC: on-call from 0100 UTC – 0800 UTC during on-call weeks
Specifically in EMEA: on-call from 0800 UTC – 1500 UTC during on-call weeks
