**THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a HR professional to join our HR and Graduate Recruitment team based at our Brisbane office.
In this varied and busy role, your primary objective will be to facilitate and support the graduate and vacation clerk recruitment, and rotation and development programs, for the Brisbane office. As a HR Adviser, you will provide generalist HR advice across some client groups in Brisbane office and support office led HR initiatives.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of our graduates from when we meet them on campus through to their admission as lawyers and their 18 month graduate program.
You will also provide support to the HR Business Partners as they work closely with their client groups to plan and deliver HR solutions that align people with the goals and objectives of the group (eg, talent, performance reviews, remuneration reviews, promotion processes, etc) and managing routine 'staff movements' (eg, terminations, parental leave, leave of absence, secondments, transfers etc).
Reporting to our Graduate Recruitment Manager, you will also work closely with other members of our HR team and liaise with our partners, lawyers and students across Brisbane. You can expect to work on a variety of processes on a daily basis including:
- Supporting recruitment partners, lawyers and students throughout the end to end interview processes.
- Managing the graduate and vacation clerk program lifecycles and the execution of key program-related development processes (e.g. rotations, graduate performance, post-program placement processes, and post-VC program selection process).
- Ensure all graduate and vacation clerk issues, grievances and requests are dealt with professionally, equitably and fairly.
- Contribute to national, HSF graduate recruitment and vacation clerk projects.
- Building external profile with students through attending campus events, social media, being featured in graduate marketing etc.
- Ongoing review of the effectiveness of the recruitment process, vacation clerk program and annual review of key data to ensure are offering remains competitive and contemporary.
- Providing staff and Partners with general HR policy advice (e.g. annual leave, parental leave).
- Partnering with HR Centres of Excellence (HR Operations, Recruitment; Reward; International Mobility) to deploy Herbert Smith Freehills initiatives across the Brisbane office.
- You will also provide consistent high quality HR administrative support to the national HR function and support the local HR team to deliver on these HR activities (e.g. drafting employment contracts and standard employee letters, participate in HR helpdesk roster, provide new starter coordination and provide support in relation to HR audits and necessary compliance etc.).
**SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a fast-paced HR role in a corporate environment, ideally in recruitment or graduate recruitment teams.
- Ability to build networks and rapport with people at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong internal client service focus, client relationship management and influencing skills.
- Experience of working collaboratively and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Experience in dealing with ambiguity and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Graduate recruitment experience is desirable but not essential.
- Comfortable operating autonomously on an agreed plan.
