The Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmacy service to all patients of the hospital. A high degree of specialised service is provided in clinical areas, medicines information, antimicrobial stewardship, quality use of medicine, research and clinical trials. **Your contribution**

The pharmacy student will be supporting the technician and the pharmacists.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- _Assist the pharmacy technicians and pharmacists in delivering services to the wards and patients, which includes provision of medicines and dispensing._
- Communicate and liaise with patients, nursing and other professional staff as required.
- Participate in rosters, annual stocktake and liaise with other pharmacy staff as required.
- Assist with various additional departmental duties as required, in times of staff shortage.
- Manufacture of extemporaneous and regular non sterile preparations
- Use of the Women’s electronic medical record (EMR) where required to fulfil the duties of this position
- Ensure appropriate medicine usage through implementation of hospital policy and through liaison with medical and nursing staff

**About you**

To be successful within this role you will need to satisfy the following:

- _Currently enrolled in a pharmacy degree (undergraduate or postgraduate course)._
- Appropriate experience in hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy.
- Knowledge of medicine names, especially the ones regularly stocked.
- Committed to ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrated understanding of customer service and communication skills.
- Competent computer literacy including use of a PC, mouse, keyboard, standard Microsoft office software’.

**COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement**

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.

As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
