The City invites a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to become a part of our Operations Unit within the Infrastructure and Operations Alliance. As a vital member of the Parks and Environment Technical Team, you will play a pivotal role in implementing programs and initiatives which aim to prevent and minimise tree loss as a result of the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (PSHB) invasive pest species. This role allows you to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders including other local governments, state government agencies, the general public and industry associations, as well as contribute to capacity building and innovation.

**About the Position**

The Technical Officer - Arboriculture role primarily works with and supports the Parks and Environment Team within the City’s Operations Unit. It aims to proactively manage and deliver programs and initiatives related to the management of PSHB in the City’s Urban Forest by working with key stakeholders such as other Local Governments, State Governments, and relevant industry groups.

This position will coordinate and implement site and contractor management to facilitate the safe, timely, and effective delivery of arboricultural works for the City’s Urban Forest assets, including both street and park trees.

The Technical Officer - Arboriculture supports the City by:

- Proactively managing and delivering programs and initiatives related to the management of PSHB in the City’s Urban Forest, to ensure compliance with instructions issued under state legislation, and to support the City’s strategic greening objectives.
- Effectively utilising the City’s existing systems, processes, and tools to coordinate, deliver, and report on programs and initiatives related to the management of PSHB.
- Monitoring and periodically reporting to superiors on the status of PSHB infestation within the City’s Urban Forest and the progress of programs and initiatives related to the management of PSHB, in line with agreed metrics and operational priorities.
