Ravenhall, Australia Correct Care Australasia Full time

Unique environment with a real opportunity to make a difference
- Correctional settings provide multiple opportunities to grow
- Great professional development opportunities

Correct Care Australasia is Australia's largest correctional healthcare provider, operating across all of Victoria's fourteen publicly managed prisons, one private prison, and two youth justice centres. Our vision, to provide 'Healthcare Without Judgement', is the foundation for the outstanding service we provide across a range of health needs for a unique and vulnerable patient group.

The Role

We are seeking permanent
**Full-Time Associate Health Services Managers (Mental Health Nurse) (ANUM equivalent)** to join our team at the
**Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), based in Ravenhall**.

The Associate Health Services Manager (AHSM) is an integral part of the primary health care team fulfilling the roles and responsibilities of the Mental Health Nurse, demonstrating expert knowledge and skills while assuming a prominent management focus at the correctional facility. The AHSM is recognised as a clinical leader within the nursing team and the AHSM forms part of the leadership group.

The role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence based mental health nursing care that meets professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards in order to optimise health outcomes for prisoners. The role undertakes this by providing effective oversight of the daily operations of the primary mental health clinical operations within medical centre, and uses their clinical expertise to provide guidance, direction and supervision. In conjunction with Corrections Victoria (CV) staff, the AHSM will assist in ensuring timely prisoner access.

The AHSM is responsible for providing mental health care services to prisoners, including effective delegation of staff to ensure timely reception screening of prisoners and case management of longer term prisoners amongst other clinical oversight duties.

The AHSM will assist the Health Services Manager (HSM) in providing leadership and effective operations of the clinical environment. The role works as a delegate of the HSM to model the values of Correct Care through effective leadership and management of the clinical nursing and multidisciplinary health staff. The AHSM role will undertake and support management functions at the correctional facility. Some management functions that may be expected are attendance at meetings, complaint and incident investigation, and human resource management functions such as rostering and staffing, performance review and staff training and development. This role is recognised as learning and experiencing the role of the HSM and a valuable tool for succession planning.

The AHSM assumes the responsibilities and authority of the Health Services Manager in their short term absence where an acting/higher duties arrangement would not be applicable and as such must have a working knowledge of the administrative operation of the medical centre. The AHSM is responsible for fostering a positive team culture, a safe working environment and the effective utilisation of resources, whilst supporting the HSM to drive change and implement continuous quality and service improvements.

Essential experience and attributes include the following selection criteria:
**Essential**
- Division 1 Registered Nurse qualification.
- Post graduate Mental Health qualification or equivalent.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

- Ability to problem solve in a variety of complex situations
- Ability to clinically lead a team which works effectively within a correctional environment
- Ability to assist and support the implementation of quality and change management initiatives and clinical projects

- Police check clearance.

**Desirable**
- Experience in general nursing
