Monash Health is excited to advise of a new Community Service Manager position within the Drug & Alcohol Services is now available. This position will work closely with the Director of Clinical Operations
**About the Monash Health Drug and Alcohol Community Services**
The Monash Health Drug & Alcohol Service (MHDAS) operationally reports through to the Mental Health Program and is committed to providing opportunities for change and growth by reducing drug use, the harms from drug use, improving physical and mental health, and reconnecting and or maintaining people’s connections to their family and the community. The principle catchment areas are the Cities of Greater Dandenong, Casey and the Shire of Cardinia with sites located in Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne and Berwick. The service employs approximately 75 EFT staff and budget of approximately $12.5 million. We provide a wide range of community specific services including:
- Public Intoxication Trial
- Primary Health Clinic
- Needle Syringe Program - fixed site, outreach and syringe dispensing machines
- Mobile Overdose Response & Mobile Drug Safety
- Proactive Overdose Response Initiative & Naloxone Subsidy
- Aboriginal Metropolitan ‘Ice’ Partnership
- Youth Supported Accommodation and Youth Outreach
- Assessment, Counselling and Non-resi withdrawal (SECADA)
We employ multidisciplinary clinicians across these wide ranging services including Peer Workers with lived experience.
The Community Residential Withdrawal Unit, is a 12 bed, residential service, led by a Nurse Manager that reports directly to the Director Clinical Operations.
The Southern Dual Diagnosis Service operationally reports to the DCO of the Monash Health Drug & Alcohol Service and is a resource for all MHDAS staff offering support in further development to recognise and respond effectively to persons presenting with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. The Peer Led Network Trial report under this program.
**About the Role**
The new Community Services Manager is a full time, permanent position, that will work closely with the Director of Clinical Operations to lead and support the community based drug and alcohol teams and services. In particular the role will support services provided by Monash Health as part of the SECADA consortium, the Aboriginal Metropolitan Ice Partnership, the newly funded Public Intoxication Health Response Trial, Primary Health Clinic and Needle Syringe Program and the Youth Drug & Alcohol Services. There are approximately 50 EFT and 3 Team Leaders who will report directly to this role.
The Community Services Manager will uphold Monash Health, the Drug & Alcohol Services and Mental Health Program’s Vision, Purpose and Values whilst being focused achieving the set Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and financial targets, and the formulation of KPI and financial targets where these have not yet been established. The role expectation includes the operational leadership and management of direct reports of managers and, in conjunction with the unit heads, medical staff within each stream. All services within the program are expected to have consistent processes to enable a consumer-focused, family/carer-centred, culturally safe/appropriate and friendly service delivery characterised by intra and inter stream seamless service delivery
**About You**
You are an experienced Community Services Manager or a Grade 4 Allied Health or Grade 5 Registered Psychiatric Nurse looking for your next career step. You will have management experience in the Drug & Alcohol/Addiction field and/or Mental Health, have proven capacity to lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic, evolving environment and are truly passionate about the delivering a high standard of evidence based care to all people who present to our services. You have a proven record in meeting Key Performance Indicators, providing written updates and reports, are familiar with quality and safety reporting, management and planning, and fostering a welcoming and healthy working environment and culture for all. You are committed to supporting Team Leaders and staff in improving client outcomes, reviewing models of care and ensuring the appropriate policies, procedures and local guidelines are in place. You are familiar with working in models supporting Lived and Living experience and understand and appreciate the values of the Lived Experience Workforce.
