Maxima, in conjunction with the Mount Barker District Council, are seeking a hands-on individual looking to kick-start their gardening career in Horticulture.

The Mount Barker District Council is in the picturesque character-filled Mount Lofty Ranges, situated just 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD. Mount Barker District Council serves a diverse and progressive community with a population of over 30,000. Projected to reach 60,000 over the next 25 years, they are one of Australia’s fastest growing areas.

This 3-year traineeship will give you the opportunity to get your hands dirty and receive paid work outdoors and practical on-the-job training, all whilst studying towards a nationally recognised **Certificate III in Horticulture.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Garden and grounds maintenance
- Mulch, prune, pot, and water plants
- Use of garden tools and machinery
- Brush cutting and mowing
- Pest and weed control
- Install irrigation pipes and watering systems

**We’re looking for individuals who**:

- Enjoy working in the outdoors and working with garden tools
- Are committed, reliable and hardworking
- Manage and prioritise time and tasks effectively
- Work effectively in a team with good communication skills
- Have a can-do attitude, and display initiative
- Able to follow directions and work under limited supervision

**Role Requirements**:

- Provisional or full driver’s licence and own vehicle (required)
- Physically fit and healthy due to manual labour work
- Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment, including a drug and alcohol test
- Previous experience in gardening or similar trade advantageous
