**Integrated Transport Planning and Design**

The position sits within the Integrated Transport Planning and Design department. The primary focus of this department is to plan, manage and design the region’s integrated transport network consistent with Council’s corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies.

**About our opportunity**

As our **Principal Planner (Active Transport)**_, _**you will be Council’s ‘go-to’ for the planning and development of the region’s public and active transport networks. You will bring enthusiasm and strong advocacy to the role, while looking at innovative ways to manage the multi-modal transport needs of our community. You will be encouraged to think outside the box and bring your expertise in this area to help implement contemporary best practices.

In addition you will:

- shape and guide Council’s active transport programs
- scope projects and influence how they will be delivered
- manage project budgets, teams and consultants to see projects through to completion
- work with Councillors and the community
- contribute to a positive team environment, facilitating continuous improvement and learning.

**About you**

We are seeking a dedicated professional in Active Transport with transport planning, advocacy and project management experience who is ready to bring knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to meeting the current and future transport needs within our region. You will have proven government or industry experience in active transport planning and advocacy.

You will have:

- experience in developing project scopes, briefs and cost estimates, plus managing project budgets, teams and consultants
- proven capability to prepare, author or otherwise review comprehensive transport planning reports and similar
- strong relationship management skills with the ability to work in a positive team environment communicating and engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- knowledge of contemporary best practice active transport planning and design

**_You will have a qualifications in a relevant field is preferred, such as a Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or Civil Engineering, studies within Transport Planning, and/or comparable industry experience_**
