Learning Support Assistants (LSA's) in a Catholic school have an exciting and essential role They’re like the secret superheroes of the classroom, working with teachers to help every child shine academically and spiritually, while guiding them to lead fulfilling lives.

Part of the vibrant Catholic community, LSA's help infuse the school with a spirit of faith and fun. They’re key players in making the school a dynamic place where creativity and curiosity flourish, and where students connect with their world in meaningful and engaging ways.

Under the teachers’ direction, LSA's jump into action with daily routines, lively classroom activities, and provide extra support to students with disabilities, making sure everyone has a great time learning and growing together.
- **Classroom Support**: Assist students with disabilities in classroom activities to help them achieve educational goals under the supervision of teachers.
- **Welfare and Wellbeing**: Provide support for students' health and wellbeing, including personal care and creating a safe, supportive environment.
- **Specialised Assistance**: Perform additional duties in specialised or discrete classes, tailored to meet specific needs in these settings.
- **Collaboration**: Work with teachers to adapt materials and strategies, contributing to individualised learning plans and maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere.
- **Monitoring**: Observe and report on student progress and concerns to support effective educational strategies.

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) provides support for students with disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. In addition, Learning Support Assistants may provide specific support for students in discrete classes or specialised settings. Learning Support Assistants working in these settings have specific additional duties, in addition to the general duties for Learning Support Assistants that are required to be performed.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA**:

- **Deep Commitment to Catholic Education**: Demonstrated understanding and personal dedication to Catholic education and the Church’s mission through Catholic schools.
- **Experience with Diverse Learners**: Hands-on experience supporting students with disabilities from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
- **Collaborative Team Player**: Proven ability to work effectively with teachers, school staff, CSO staff, and external partners.
- **Assessment and Intervention Skills**: Experienced in administering assessments and delivering targeted interventions under a teacher’s guidance.
- **Tailored Adjustments**: Skilled in implementing necessary adjustments for both individual students and groups to enhance learning.
- **Student Enrolment and Transitions**: Experience supporting student enrolment and smooth transitions, guided by a teacher.
- **Knowledgeable in Disability Legislation**: Well-versed in relevant Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
- **Organisational and Administrative Excellence**: Strong organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.

**Qualifications**:

- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.
- Completed anaphylaxis training.
- Certificate III or IV in School-Based Education Support (desirable) or equivalent experience.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
