**Role**:

- Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
- Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
- Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
- Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
- Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Responsibilities**:

- Leadership & Culture
- Foster a positive learning climate and culture of high expectations, challenge, engagement, and student voice.
- Work with the Principal and Leadership Team to deliver strategies for the 2025-2028 cycle to improve student learning outcomes through Careers and Pathways.
- Contribute to the Performance and Development process by leading a Careers/Pathways focus group.
- Provide leadership in the Careers and Pathways portfolio, ensuring whole-school communication of decisions.

Teaching & Learning
- Lead, develop, and manage career and pathway education across Years 7-12.
- Oversee the delivery of careers curriculum that meets the Victorian Careers Framework.
- Oversee school-based and external VET enrolments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Liaise with the 11-12 Sub School Leader on VET and VASS processes, supporting compliance, data entry, and accurate results management.
- Liaise with RTOs and ensure VET teachers have access to all required resources and materials provided by RTOs.
- Oversee the La Trobe Pathways Program, ensuring student selection, monitoring, and support processes are in place.
- Maintain and manage an up-to-date careers resource library accessible to students, staff, and families.

Work Experience
- Organise Year 10/11 work experience placements in consultation with the Sub School Teams and ES support staff.
- Distribute, collect, and check all required employer and student forms.
- Ensure all students complete required online OH&S modules prior to placement.
- Maintain and update the work experience database.
- Liaise with employers to promote the program and build community partnerships.
- Coordinate the Year 11 Work Experience Melbourne Camp, including accommodation, transport, and meals.
- Manage employer evaluation forms and ensure feedback is shared with students.

Student Support & Engagement
- Support students to identify vocational interests, education, and employment pathways.
