**The Role**
This role offers substantial scope for Whole of Australian Government and cross-jurisdictional leadership to contribute to shaping and strengthening Australia’s national security. You will support the Program Manager in identifying capability gaps and implementing programs of work aligned to the National Security Science and Technology Priorities which will range from long term foundational research to near term product deliverables.
This position will contribute significantly to managing significant investments in national security research, development and innovation and be aligned with S&T objectives of international partners, including the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD) in the United States and nations in the Chemical, Biological and Radiological Counter Terrorism Quadrilateral (CBR CT Quad).
The position requires knowledge of program management and an ability to work effectively across various S&T programs and with a diverse set of stakeholders in the NS Domain. A contemporary knowledge of S&T as applied in the National Security and/or National Intelligence context is advantageous in this role. Knowledge of contract management and innovative delivery programs would be beneficial. Your strong results focus will drive value in the program and ensure that project outcomes deliver a capability edge to National Security operators.
**About our Team**
The successful applicant will assist the Program Manager to establish productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders across the NS Domain, within DSTG and across Government, Academia and Industry. The successful applicant will possess knowledge of project management and strong interpersonal skills.
CBRN Defence welcomes motivated team members from a range of disciplinary backgrounds: your demonstrated capacity to engage and work with personnel from different Agencies in the NS Domain and in a diverse, multi-disciplinary program will underpin your success in the role.
- You will work under limited guidance and be responsible for utilising S&T knowledge, skills and experience to meet the needs of key stakeholders.
- You will have a national or international reputation in a specific field of science, and considerable experience, awareness and knowledge across CBRN-related S&T applied to National Security.
- You will be able to understand the major strategic issues of concern for you National Security domain stakeholders, and then determine the most effective approach to addressing the S&T elements of those issues.
- You will be able to undertake complex to highly complex work requiring diverse experience to resolve, and to report on that work in language which suits stakeholder needs.
- You will form effective relationships with stakeholders at the working
- and management
- levels, to ensure that outcomes are delivered in a manner that meets stakeholder expectations.
- You will also assist with the development of policy and procedures to meet stakeholder needs. You will be able to effectively represent DSTG to stakeholders and play a key role in the CBR CT Quad.
