As we continue to grow our services, we also continue to grow our team. We are now looking for a Part-time Food Pantry assistant at our Head Office in Narrabundah to help us coordinate the day to day running of the food pantry.

Further, you will be supported and gain valuable knowledge from an experienced community and well-being team, whilst providing a great service to our vulnerable community.

**Make a difference**:
We are seeking a Food Pantry assistant to join our robust Community Support Services Team. The position will coordinate volunteers in the day-to-day running of the food pantry, and provide initial training to volunteers working in the food pantry. The position is on a fixed term contract for 3 months at 12 hours per week. The days included are:

- Tuesdays 1 - 5pm (4 hours)
- Wednesdays 9 - 12 (3 hours)
- Thursdays (5 hours - flexible with start and finish times to an extent, starting preferably between 9:30 and 11:30 am)

**Core duties**:

- Coordinating the unpacking of food deliveries.
- Restocking shelves, freezers, fridges and the store room ensuring proper storage for dry, refrigerated and frozen goods.
- Keeping an inventory of stock that needs replenishing, and ordering food as needed.
- Maintain proper sanitary food practices, including awareness and control of food quality.
- Perform other duties as directed, commensurate with the skills and expectations of the role.

**What you will bring to the team**

To be considered for this role, you’ll have experience working with vulnerable people and demonstrate a sound understanding of risk assessment and duty of care for the Canberra Community.

Further you will be required to have or willing to obtain:

- Working Vulnerable People Card

You must be able to communicate positively and effectively with clients and their families, delivering diverse communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with other agencies, and demonstrated ability to relate to individuals in need of support.

This role will see you building strong relationships with our Clients and their families. This will ensure that we continue providing quality services that allow or community to keep their independence.
