Open Arms is the cornerstone of the Government’s veteran mental health support response, delivering free and confidential, nation-wide counselling and support for war and service-related mental health conditions. Support is also available for relationship and family matters that can arise due to the unique nature of military service.

Open Arms counsellors are skilled mental health workers with varied practice backgrounds and sound, military-aware clinical experience who provide evidence based, recovery orientated counselling and therapeutic interventions to veterans and their families. Counsellors are supported by a team of professional administrative staff who are also familiar with, and respectful of, the commitment and sacrifice of Australia’s defence personnel and their families.

**Eligibility**
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen to apply.

**Mandatory Requirements**
- Qualifications as a registered Psychologist / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR
- Possession of relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing.

**Notes**

A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions within the next 18 months.
