**About the Position**
Rae-Line is seeking an astute Procurement Officer to conduct purchasing activities and ensure that purchased items are both cost-efficient and of high quality. The procurement officer's responsibilities include maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases, and maintaining accurate records along with other purchasing related tasks.
To be successful as a procurement officer you should have an analytical mind and keep up with product and service trends. Ultimately, a top procurement officer should be able to negotiate well and ensure that all purchases comply with company standards. Hours are: 7am-4pm Mon-Thurs and 7am-11am Friday (flexible).
**Responsibilities**
- Preparing plans for the purchase of materials, equipment, services, and supplies.
- Identify current usage and re-order points.
- Manage purchase schedule.
- Following and enforcing the company's purchasing policies and procedures.
- Reviewing, comparing, analysing, and approving products and services to be purchased.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Identify and implement stock control measures.
- Identify slow-moving and overstocked inventory.
- Liaise with managers to ascertain purchasing requirements.
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve issues and liaise with Finance to ensure prompt payment to suppliers.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as delivery lead times, product ranges, etc.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating pricing and supply contracts.
- Researching and evaluating current and prospective suppliers.
- Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
- Other tasks from time to time in support of the materials department, receiving and receipting materials and stock take activities.
- In addition to the duties specified in this position description, perform any other tasks duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position and any other reasonable duties specifically assigned.

**Key Education requirements**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience as a purchasing officer or in a similar position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, purchasing software and excel.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels
- Goal-oriented, organized team player
- Australian drivers’ licence.
- Forklift license.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment MUST
- Able to read and speak good English
- Must have "excellent" organisation skills
- Must have "excellent" computer skills (savvy around new systems, willingness to self-learn)
**Desired requirements**
- Syspro experience (or similar manufacturing ERP system)
- Microsoft Access Database experience.
- Degree in purchasing, manufacturing, business management or a similar field preferred.
- Overseas sourcing experience.
