**About Division for Clinical Innovation and Research**
The Division leads the state programs for clinical innovation and research. It provides a central point of coordination and strategy setting to drive the focus on state-wide research and innovation priorities. The Division includes the Office of Health and Medical Research and the Agency for Clinical Innovation. It provides leadership in the development and management of research funding streams and support the development of research infrastructure in partnership with universities, medical research institutes and local health districts. It also provides leadership of the Health System Advisory Council and the various clinical networks supporting the identification, design and implementation of innovation in healthcare. The Division provides leadership in clinical evidence and healthcare redesign.
**The Role**
The Director, Office of the Deputy Secretary leads, guides and provides expert and strategic advice on communications, policy, planning, project and change management and operational matters to support the priorities of the Deputy Secretary, Clinical Innovation and Research and the delivery of organisational objectives.
The role serves as a focal point for all matters that require the direct intervention of the Office of the Deputy Secretary. It plays a crucial role in promoting an integrated division and has oversight of strategic communication with internal and external stakeholders.

**About you**
You will use your well-honed strategic skills to provide strategic support and advice on matters involving the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation and the Office of Health and Medical Research.
Using your strong organisational and leadership skills you will lead the office of the Deputy Secretary and be instrumental in promoting an integrated division by overseeing strategic communications with internal and external stakeholders.
You should enjoy collaborating with senior executives and managing relationships across a broad stakeholder group.
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Public Service Senior Executive (PSSE) role. A remuneration package within the range of $211,222 to $235,325 per annum, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

- The Clinical Innovation and Research Division is a complex organisation interacting with a multiplicity of stakeholders. With the need to establish the Division’s Office of the Deputy Secretary will come challenges that relate to managing change, establishing operating procedures and building relationships. Can you provide an example of when you have contributed to managing change and establish “ways to work” in an organisation and relate on the leadership and relational skills you had to demonstrate?
- Managing risks through effective communication is crucial to the running of public health sector organisations. Policy design and implementation requires a sound strategic acumen and clear communication skills to navigate the various perspectives and interests of stakeholders involved in health policy. This is true of research and innovation as well. Given this, how would you go about providing advice to the Deputy Secretary on key internal and external relationships and communications? Also, what are some strategies you have employed in the past to make sense of complex requests in time pressured situations?
**Essential Requirements**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications with skills in the areas of policy, planning, stakeholder engagement and communications.
- Ability to manage a large and complex environment, including skills in developing and managing relationships and delivery partnerships across a wide and complex group of stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the workings of government, and the healthcare sector.
