**Your Role**: As Manager, Media and Public Affairs you will be responsible the day-to-day management of the media and public affairs teams ensuring the timely delivery of materials and media responses for the department while liaising with Senior Executives and the Ministers Office.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Manage media services for the Department, including overseeing the development of proactive and reactive media responses and media releases for dissemination to mainstream and niche media.
- Manage public affairs activities for the Department, including overseeing a team of speech writers, and approving the development of appropriate speech and public affairs materials for the Minister and Director-General, and their representatives.
- Provide high level media, issues and crisis management advice to senior executives of the Department, and the Minister's Office as required.
- Develop and maintain the Department's capability to respond to emerging media issues and critical incidents, and promote the positive initiatives of the Department to the media.
- Liaise with schools, regions and central office divisions to provide guidance and training on media and public affairs issues, including acting as a media spokesperson as required.
- Be available outside of core business hours to manage media and public affairs issues as required.
