Nagambie, Australia Yulong Investments Full time

Yulong is seeking a highly motivated and adaptive individual to join our growing team as a full-time Horse Trainer/Breeding-Yearlings.

Yulong is comprised of three farms all of which are an easy drive to Melbourne. The breeding side of the operation, Yulong Stud and Yulong Farm, are located in the beautiful wine region of Nagambie. Whilst the spelling farm, Yulong Park, located in Bayles, is a short drive to the Mornington Peninsula.

Yulong is a rapidly expanding operation which currently has 450 broodmares, 260 foals, five stallions and over 100 horses in training.

**Horse Trainer/Breeding**

Duties will include:

- Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
- Early education of young stock
- Foaling, including pre
- and post-natal care of broodmares and foals
- Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
- Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy

**Horse Trainer/Breeding - Yearlings**

Duties will include:

- Training and preparing horses for major sales
- Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
- Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctly
- Parade and caring for horses at sales
- Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
- Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kicking

The salary will be above award - in the range of **$55,000 to $75,000** per annum depending upon the skill set and level of responsibility.

Accommodation maybe offered on the farm.

**Essential Skills**:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role.

In addition, the following will be required:

- Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred breeding
- Proven ability to train and educate young horses
- Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
- Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
