**Position Summary**:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Staff Specialist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to provide clinical services to patients designated as under their care, to outpatients and to patients you are asked to consult.
- assessment and management of patients who are admitted under the care of the clinical pharmacology and toxicology (CPT) unit including the PANDA (Prescription Medicines and Drugs of Addiction) 6 bed medical ward service/department and other patients admitted under the CTP service elsewhere ;
- specialist consultation and referral; and
- specialist consultation-liaison to patients who are admitted under other services/departments;
- Referral and liaison with key treatment providers (including GP’s) and active participation in a multidisciplinary setting;
- Supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and trainees and medical students;
- Contribute to and undertake relevant research;
- Participation in out-of-hours services;
- Contribute to the management and function of the department(s) Including the PANDA and CPOT units and the Hospital in promoting and providing safe, best practice and cost-efficient clinical service;
- Provision of expert clinical advice to relevant committees and services.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

2. Possess, or be eligible to possess, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

3. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

4. Demonstrated knowledge and interest in current contemporary clinical practice in clinical pharmacology/ toxicology with relevant experience appropriate to the requirements of the position.

5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills and effective team working with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes.

6. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience.

7. Demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels.
