**About us**:

Our partners

Our people.

**Description**:
As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Youth Outreach Housing Specialist is expected to personally contribute to the shaping and achievement of ATSICHS vision and goals within their own scope. The Youth Outreach Housing Specialist will provide three (3) Key Functions

Role Functions

The Youth Outreach Housing Specialist will work with Young People in partnership to empower and build their agency to make effective change and overcome their identified housing and wellbeing needs. The role is heavily outreach based, engaging Young People in crisis accommodation, street outreach and refuges, and translating initial engagement into a strong ongoing partnership. Once engaged, the role will not identify the client’s issues in a practitioner-led assessment, rather deliver interventions that build client’s awareness and insight into their tenancy and social wellbeing challenges, immediate and historical, in order for them to self-identify their key challenges and lead their own change.

The Youth Outreach Housing Specialist delivers brief therapeutic counselling interventions and targeted wellbeing practice strategies to achieve the core outcomes related to securing and maintaining sustainable housing, including:
Improving stable housing and young person’s ability to maintain a tenancy, budget and advocate
Build the parenting capability, skills and knowledge that promote flourishing child rearing
Facilitate imbedding structured family routines that improve household management, healthy eating and quality family time
Improving parental management of stress and personal wellbeing, including coordinating access to ATSICHS Mental Health Service (Social Health Team).
Ensuring all children meet developmental milestones by facilitating family access to ATSICHS pediatric/Mums and Bubs medical services, including access to specialist allied health supports
Improving financial health of young people by achieving meaningful employment and/or training
Improving school attendance and educational engagement of parents
Enrolment in Kindergarten and family participation in early years playgroups
Securing family safety
Reducing AOD substance misuse
Improving young person health by coordinating to ATSICHS medical clinics for annual preventative health assessment
Improving family dental care by coordinating to ATSICHS dental clinics for annual preventative dental check-up.

A key focus of the role is building the capability of individuals and families, not completing goals on behalf of the client(s). The role actively delivers one-to-one brief therapeutic mental health interventions, particularly focused around motivation/change readiness brief interventions, self-esteem practical supports (affirming strengths, facing fears, doubting doubt) and personal agency thinking (goal directed energy) brief interventions. In circumstances where a client/family requires targeted ongoing mental health treatment, the Youth Outreach Housing Specialist coordinates access to the internal ATSICHS FWS Family Counsellor or Social Health Team that delivers all targeted mental health therapeutic treatment within their scope of duties.

Organizational Contributions

The Youth Outreach Housing Specialist will participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives that improve client service quality and customer service in achieving excellence in community.

Contribute to the Development of a Flourishing Team

Support fellow staff in a team environment to build collegiality and a sense of belongingness within the team and ATSICHS family. Staff will actively participate in team activities and contribute to a flourishing workplace culture that promotes the ethos and values of ATSICHS Brisbane as a long-standing Aboriginal Community Controlled Organization
