Manager Pastoral Services

Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital

As Manager of Pastoral Services you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of Pastoral services within the Division, providing leadership and coordination to the team responsible for the provision of holistic Pastoral services to patients and clients and provide Pastoral care to patients, clients and their families according to Divisional needs.

The Position
- Provide Pastoral Care to patients/clients/relatives according to the identified ICD 10 Spiritual Care intervention codes.
- Document Spiritual Care interventions in the patient healthcare record and the pastoral services database.
- Contribute to the activity of the multi-disciplinary teams in the assigned areas of work especially in relation to patient assessment and care planning, respecting diversity and difference to create a culture of care that nurtures healing and spiritual wellbeing.
- Facilitate referrals to Specialist support services, such as Chaplains, Faith groups and relevant Pastoral Services team members, as appropriate.
- Coordinate and oversee the bereavement support programme.
- Develop and utilise spiritual assessments.
- Coordinate ritual, liturgy, prayer, reflections e.g. Memorial Services, Pregnancy Loss rituals, respecting others cultural and religious beliefs.
- Promote Catholic identity through access to sacraments for patients.
- Responsible for maintenance of chapel/retreat/sacred space ensuring it is maintained and utilised in an appropriate manner.
- Grow the ministry through the provision of innovative practice, effective governance and management of resources.
- Prepare Pastoral budget and review monthly expenditure

You will hold high-level verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to engage effectively with a variety of people. Holding previous experience in a similar role conducting education in the provision of Pastoral care, you will have the ability to provide Pastoral support to patients and clients from a variety of faith, cultural and social backgrounds.

You will serve as a senior leader, capable of managing competing demands and delivering results whilst maintaining professional boundaries and contributing positively to a multi-disciplinary team.

Successful completion at a minimum 50 hrs of supervised pastoral qualification and a formal tertiary level pastoral qualification at a degree or postgraduate level is essential to the role.

To succeed you will hold a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a professional healthcare role or equivalent with demonstrated expertise in leadership and management. Flexibility with working hours including the ability and preparedness to undertake evening, weekend shift and on call duties will be required.

- Salary: $115,405 to $128,198 plus 11% superannuation
- A Part Time position, working 4 days, 30 hours per week, to suit operational needs.
