About the role
We are on lookout for multiple highly skilled Data Governance Analysts to support the implementation and administration of the data governance framework across the bank as we undertake a transformational program of work. With a solution-orientated mindset, you will influence into the organisation through creation of practical controls that reduce data risk, support critical data roles (owners, stewards, etc) in delivering on their responsibilities, and promote the use of the data governance framework.
This role is offered as 2-year fixed term contract with possible extension or permanency.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to Senior Leader, Data Governance, the Data Governance Analyst supports the development and embedding of the data governance framework of policies, practices and controls. that reduce data risk.
Assist in supporting the development of the data governance program of work by:
Assisting to develop and document new and existing data management standards, processes, and controls
Assist in proactively engaging with business stakeholders to promote data governance
Support data initiatives (such as data migrations between operational systems) through:
Building glossaries and catalogues.
Contributing to data quality processes such as data profiling
Prioritising and managing data quality logs.
Engage with and support data owners, data custodians, data stewards and data users by:
Promoting and explaining data governance policies and procedures
Actively identifying and escalating data-related issues and risks
Document feedback and contribute practical solutions
Support Data Stewards in the creation and curation of data glossaries.
Assisting Data Stewards with data quality management processes.
Ensure the smooth running of the data governance framework by:
Assist in providing the organisation with an understanding of critical data, where it is and the quality of the data, through the business glossary, data cataloguing and data quality assessments.
Assisting to report on the progress of the initial rollout, including uptake, compliance, and effectiveness
Assist in performing compliance checks
Maintaining or administering data governance processes and/or procedures
Contributing to tactical decision making
Proactively identify risks and recommend actions to avoid, mitigate or accept risks. Promote a sound risk culture by routinely analysing, avoiding, mitigating, or accepting risks.
About you
You are a passionate advocate for data governance and will assist the team to execute the data governance strategy building key stakeholder relationships and support the implementation of key initiatives.
Knowledge and Experience
The ability to interrogate databases to understand the quality and meaning of the data (SQL or other tools).
High level understanding of data management concepts
Experience in Data Management tools.
Some understanding of regulatory requirements related to data privacy, including but not limited to CPG235 and Australian Privacy Principals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups.
An understanding of financial services operating environment and products (desirable)
