The Physiotherapy Team Leader is a clinical expert who is responsible for coordination and supervision within the Outpatient Physiotherapy team. With advanced reasoning and clinical skills and currency of professional knowledge, the team leader is expected to lead and develop individuals and teams and ensure that the relevant clinical services demonstrate excellence, quality, current evidence based practice and the highest level of patient satisfaction and caregiver engagement.
The team leader is accountable and overseen by the Physiotherapy Manager and works alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide advanced clinical physiotherapy services to clients. You will practice as a Senior Physiotherapist and ensure practice is in accordance to the Australian Physiotherapy Association, AHPRA, Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines and SJGHC policies and guidelines.
The Position- Provides clinical physiotherapy services to client groups and circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills.- Active participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings, case conferences and family meetings.- Use of Evidence Based Practice clinical outcome measures and use of Patient feedback - satisfaction measures and quality assurance activities- Ensure prioritisation and delegation of duties of physiotherapy caseloads for self and supervised caregivers.- Promotes professional values and ethics in clinical practice.- Demonstrates consolidated, current knowledge of research, evidence-based practice in physiotherapy and related clinical areas.- Acts as a clinical consultant for the discipline and within the specialty- Documents in the patient/clients healthcare record in accordance with the SJGHC policies and procedure- Maintains statistical data in accordance with departmental and professional clinical guidelines and ensures team statistics are updated and used to monitor performance e.g. referral trends, caseloads etc.- Liaise with other educate caregivers about patient care, changes to specialty or processes where relevant.- Demonstrates strong, current clinical knowledge and skills and applies this to contribute to supporting individuals and teams in clinical practice.- Leads and contributes to undergraduate student and volunteer programs and training.- Leads and develops highly performing teams.- Acts as a role model for caregivers in promoting professional values and ethics.- Facilitates regular physiotherapy team meetings- Represents the profession either clinically or in relation to service development as required. Initiates and participates in working parties, committees and internal forums at a discipline and divisional level - interdisciplinary, as required.- Accepts responsibility for maintaining and strengthening own professional knowledge and expertise. Maintenance of own continuing professional development portfolio as required. Completes regular performance development plan.
Position Requirements
You will hold a tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy, hold current membership with APHRA. You will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in a highly specialised area of clinical practice within a health setting within a senior clinical position. You will hold the ability to develop highly performing teams with experience in clinical supervision and mentoring skills. In this role, you will hold the ability to support and coordinate specialty to ensure patient and service delivery needs are met.
To succeed you will have highly developed communication skills, including written, verbal, interpersonal, facilitation and negotiation experience including the ability to work collaboratively with other specialties. Demonstrated experience in the initiation, design and implementation of research and quality improvement activities is essential.
