**What you'll be doing**
- The Bariatric / Upper GI Fellow will be a newly qualified surgeon looking for an opportunity to enhance their skills in the areas of elective and emergency surgery and outpatient surgical consultations. The fellowship position is endorsed by Australian & New Zealand Metabolic Obesity Surgical Society (ANZMOSS) as a recognised post for specialist training in all aspects of metabolic / bariatric surgical care.
- The Fellowship will consist of clinical and research work including the provision of bariatric surgery and perioperative care.
The Bariatric Fellow will participate in the on-call roster, assist with the educational role of the department and provide clinical care to patients as well as attend bariatric outpatient clinics (MOS Clinic) to enhance their knowledge with respect to all forms of assessment and management including the partnership with allied health services.
- The Fellow will be required to work with the Specialist Surgeons and the Registrars appointed to Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) at the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for a 12 month period. There may also be the requirement to provide support at other sites within the LHD.

**Where you'll be working**
Wagga Wagga Base Hospital provides a 24/7 Emergency Department that supports both the township of Wagga Wagga and surrounding towns and villages. The Emergency Department is equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Wagga Wagga with other specialists or GPs across the state through the Critical Care Advisory Service. There is an Interventional Services Department which consists of a Cardiac Catheter Lab, a Hybrid (DSA) lab and a Cardiac Procedure Room.
- Wagga Wagga Base Hospital provides services including critical care, medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, and rehabilitation care. There is also the provision of a full range of allied health and support services such as dental, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, sexual health and violence prevention and response services.

Wagga Wagga is the largest regional city in NSW with an urban population of over 60,000 residents, nestled on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.

Wagga Wagga offers a myriad of activities to enjoy, including a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafes, markets and wineries, galleries and museums. It has terrific gradens and recreational areas and caters to both the cultural and sporting enthusiasts.

**Selection Criteria**
- Evidence of a Medical qualification that is registrable with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Letter of support from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons supporting Fellowship placement in General Surgery and indicating completion of fellowship training requirements in General Surgery and successful completion of the Part II examination.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to General Surgery.
- Willing to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster for Surgery
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team.
