**Our Organisation**
The State School Teachers’ Union of W.A. (SSTUWA) represents State School Teachers and TAFE Lecturers across W.A. It is one of the largest trade unions in Western Australia with over 17,500 members, to whom it provides a wide range of both industrial, professional and value added services.
The SSTUWA is the public education union of WA. The ability to exercise high levels of tact and discretion in a professionally and personally challenging environment, while simultaneously meeting demanding schedules and workloads, is essential.

**Key responsibilities**:
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Renew, modify and implement the Reconciliation Action
- Work on SSTUWA’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy alongside SSTUWA strategic
- Engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members, committee and reconciliation
- Work with the Senior Officer in charge of the portfolio regarding key
**Conditions**
- a) Part-time (0.4-0.6).
- Salary: As per clause 10.1.2, officers, as defined in 5.6.3 of the State School Teachers’ Union of W.A. _Conditions of Employment Agreement 2018 _will be paid at two (2) incremental levels above the salary level [as outlined in Table 4 - Salaries (Annual Rate) of the General Agreement 2018], which applied at the time of their appointment to the SSTUWA, to a maximum of the Level 3 Classroom Teacher rate (i.e. 3.2 of L3CT).

- A commitment to trade unionism and public
- A knowledge of the major issues currently facing the public education and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educator
- Ability to prioritise work, exercise judgement, and initiative with a high level of confidentiality and discretion, while providing a high level of member support within a politically sensitive
