**Position Information**:
Yarrawarrah Public School has an enrolment of approximately 250 students. The students enjoy a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment. Our attractive school is well-resourced and provides student access to the latest technologies to further enhance their learning. Focus areas include reading, numeracy, high potential and gifted education, and Aboriginal Education. The students thrive in an environment which offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, such as: chess, environmental projects, debating and public speaking, choirs, dance, physical education and gifted and talented programs. We also offer students the opportunity to compete in a range of competitive and non-competitive sporting activities. Student wellbeing initiatives incorporate the values of Responsibility, Excellence, Acceptance, Cooperation and Honesty (REACH). We are a Be You school where staff are trained in helping children achieve their best possible mental health. Our PBL program creates a positive learning environment for all students and supports our school expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be an Active Learner. **Selection Criteria**:
- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary underpinned by cognitive science, strong curriculum knowledge, and experience using evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs.
- Ability to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complexities of the leadership aspects of the Assistant Principal role, including managing multiple stages when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor and build the capacity of a diverse range of teachers including experienced and early career teachers.
- Experience and knowledge in leading PBL practices K-6 to strengthen student wellbeing and maintain positive partnerships with parents.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
