About the role

We are looking for an experienced Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer to join our office at Deakin who will be responsible for establishing trust and building relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and residents across the ACT region.

**Your main duties will include**:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the health issues and key policies that impact on Aboriginal community across the ACT region eg: grief and loss, inter-generational trauma, child protection, domestic violence, substances abuse and the burden of chronic illness.
Demonstrated ability to liaise, proactively engage and work collaboratively with vulnerable people and agencies in ensuring culturally responsive services.
Contribute to improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by supporting the provision of flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive health services.
About you
This is a designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. Confirmation of Aboriginality form is required, or written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live / work which addressed the three criteria. You
are of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
Identify as an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander, and
are accepted as such by the Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander community.
Holds or aspires to hold a health qualification.
Current drivers licence and willingness to work across multiple sites.
