**The Position**
**Hawkesbury District Health Service **provides inpatient and emergency services to residents of the Hawkesbury and surrounding districts under a public-private partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
**St John of God Hawkesbury Hospital**
- Hawkesbury has 131 beds and 4 Operating Theatres
- The Emergency Department sees 30,000 patients per year including a significant number of children
- Patients are admitted under Visiting Medical Officers in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- The wards are staffed by Accredited and Non Accredited Medical, Surgical and Orthopaedic Registrars, CMOs and RMOs
- ED Specialist Visiting Medical Officers, CMOs and RMOs staff the Emergency Department
We are currently have opportunities for **Resident Medical Officers** and **Career Medical Officers **to work in ED and/or inpatient wards (Medical and HDU). These positions will suit junior doctors seeking additional experience prior to entering ED or Medical training programs or experienced doctors seeking long-term CMO positions.
- General registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- A minimum of two (2) years postgraduate experience in relevant clinical settings for RMO positions and four (4) years postgraduate experience for CMO positions.
- Demonstrated clinical and procedural competency in:
- Assessment and management of surgical and medical patients
- Venepuncture, venous and arterial cannulations
- Urinary Catheterisation
- Independent interpretation of diagnostic pathology, radiology and cardiology tests
- Basic Life Support
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality management and continuing medical education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control.
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- All caregivers employed by St John of God Health Care are required to be vaccinated from Covid-19 in order to fulfil the requirements of the role._
