**The Role**

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee our national payroll function. The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring that all payroll activities are executed accurately, on time, and in compliance with relevant legislation. This role involves managing payroll systems, leading the payroll team of 2, and coordinating with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. You’ll also help us continue to improve systems and processes. Key duties and responsibilities include:

- Overseeing the Australian Payroll function - weekly & monthly payroll for O’Brien nationally
- Drive continuous improvement in the Payroll team through monitoring and streamlining systems, processes and workflows
- Coach, mentor, train and coordinate the activities of team members within Payroll to ensure that all employees understand and comply with relevant policies and procedures
- Overseeing and responding to requests for information and reports as required, including month end reporting
- Ensuring compliance in all aspects of payroll i.e.: Payroll Tax, Super, etc.
- Maintain pay records, associated time keeping data, leave records and related information. Includes the maintenance of all pay related records
- Assist in the development/update of documented payroll policies and procedures
- Responsible for maintenance and testing of any payroll system changes

- Proven leadership experience in a Payroll Manager role
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll information clearly to employees and stakeholders
- Ability to interpret awards and EBA with precision
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and tax regulations
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- A passion for mentoring and developing staff to enhance performance and engagement
