**Position Information**:
Kogarah High School is a coeducational, comprehensive secondary school in the Sydney South Metropolitan area. We pride ourselves on our diverse and culturally rich community, and our dynamic school culture, which is focused on developing young people who are engaged learners and responsible citizens. The Kogarah High School student population of more than 700 comes from over 20 different culturally and linguistically diverse communities. While 84.4% of students are from Language Backgrounds other than English, 20% are receiving support from specialist English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) teachers. The school also hosts an Intensive English Centre, a Hearing Support unit, one class for students with mild intellectual disabilities and three classes for students with Autism.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the senior executive team to effectively initiate, lead, motivate and monitor the implementation of the school’s strategic directions and whole school plan.
- Proven capacity to be a highly visible and consultative member of the Executive Leadership Team, leading and supporting initiatives that enhance teacher capacity and culture a positive relationship with staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
- Demonstrated capacity in managing complex wellbeing issues, displaying sophisticated skills, and ensuring that every student is known, valued, and cared for.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, management and organisational skills with a proven ability to successfully manage complex situations and competing priorities to support students, staff, and families.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
