**The Position**
Position Title: Aboriginal Cultural Workforce Mentor
Classification: Grade 3
Salary per hour (exc. super): $37.67
Hours per fortnight: 76 available (Availability of 45 hours and above considered)
Employment Status: Ongoing Full Time, Ongoing Part Time

**Role Description**
The Aboriginal Workforce Coordinator will utilise the positive energy and passion within the organisation to create an innovative employment program that focuses on attraction, retention, induction, development and mentoring of Aboriginal and Torres Strait people, in a culturally safe environment.
- In consultation with key representatives from across Bendigo Health this role will be responsible for updating Bendigo Health’s Aboriginal Employment Plan to imbed culturally safe practices and reflect current policy guidelines for the attraction and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in a health service workforce.
- Co-ordinate the implementation of Bendigo Health’s Aboriginal Employment Plan in partnership with key stakeholders from across Bendigo Health.
- Liaise with local and regional educational institutions and entities to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to pursue careers in health care.
- Build opportunities to increase the presence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in roles across Bendigo Health including leadership positions.
- Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff for mentoring and support, both culturally and professionally across Bendigo Health.
**The Workforce Planning & Resourcing Team**
The Workforce Planning and Resourcing team works in partnership with managers to tailor effective and innovative recruitment, retention, attraction and workforce planning strategies across the organisation. The team also sources the clinical and non-clinical workforces at Bendigo Health Care Group to ensure the organisation can provide optimal patient care. Our Recruitment Coordinators work with allocated departmental managers to support them in all aspects of the recruitment and selection process. This includes coordinating the processes of the online e-Recruit recruitment system, internal and external advertising of vacancies, updating position descriptions, running assessment centres, creation of employment contracts, on boarding new staff members and ensuring all pre-employment checks and credentialing are completed prior to commencement. The team also generate variation employment contracts for existing staff.
