**NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) is seeking to appoint 2 Board members.**
- Board member vacancies.
- 3-year terms.
- Remuneration $13,357 per annum for board members.
- Established under the Institute of Sport Act 1995 No. 52 (the Act).

**Organisational Overview**

The NSW Institute of Sport [NSWIS] is a high-performance sporting organisation that supports Australian athletes to become world’s best. NSWIS reaches all regions of NSW with an Olympic and Paralympic training facility based at Sydney Olympic Park and high-performance hubs across NSW that provide world class daily training environments for our athletes and coaches. Our experts work in collaboration with partners within the national sporting system to create and deliver high performance support services and environments to prepare athletes and coaches for international competition.

**Board Overview**

The Board of NSWIS consists of 8 members including the Chair and Deputy Chair who bring a wealth of experience, business acumen and expertise to fulfil their function in determining the policies and strategic plans of the Institute.

**Board Member Overview**

Successful members of the NSWIS board operate at a strategic level, oversighting leadership of NSWIS. Board members actively work in the interests of NSWIS and the athletes we support, contributing knowledge, expertise, and connections to support the development and delivery of the NSWIS strategic plan and priorities.

Board members with experience in stakeholder engagement and statutory compliance are highly valued as well as skills in risk management, organisational performance, governance, and due diligence.

On occasion Board members may be asked to Act in ambassadorial roles for NSWIS and the NSW Government at special and major events so experience in that regard is also highly valued.

**Key Capabilities**
- Awareness of the social, economic, and political context at a local, national, and international level as it relates to high performance sport
- Sports industry knowledge and awareness
- Sound governance including understanding legal, ethical, fiduciary, and other responsibilities of Board members
- Strategic expertise, critical thinking, and planning skills
- Experience in monitoring and oversight of outcomes and results
- The highest levels of integrity and honesty.
