In the role of Principal Advisor you will deliver strategic projects, policy, frameworks and programmes that provide direction for the development of the transport system in Queensland.

The role will involve some key stakeholder relationships across all levels of government and within the broader transport sector to support policy initiatives that underpin the successful implementation of the Government's objectives in having an integrated, safe, efficient and reliable transport system for Queensland.
A key focus of the role is supporting the Manager within the team in representing the Department on and coordinating its input into the Land Transport Market Reform Steering Committee, tasked with progressing Heavy Vehicle Road Reform. The position will also enable you to play an important role in supporting Transport and Main Road's (TMR) interactions with key stakeholders.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Identify and develop complex strategic transport policy options and contribute to the implementation of projects, and/or programmes that support the direction for the transport system in Queensland.
- Inform the strategic positioning activities of TMR in response to emerging customer requirements and local, state and national transport system policy and issues.
- Research and analyse issues, risks and challenges confronting the transport system, including emerging customer requirements.
- Provide high level advice on transport system priorities, policy and challenges to executive management.
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the department, government, industry and community in relation to the achievement of strategic transport system priorities.
- Represent the department as required in relation to organisational and local, state and national transport issues and policies, namely the Land Transport Market Reform Steering Committee.
- Participate in project teams, comprising internal and external stakeholders, to develop and implement strategic transport policy and projects within agreed parameters.
- Prepare timely and well researched cabinet submissions, briefs and/or policy documents.

This role reports to the Manager, Economic Research & Analysis.
